UAE Traffic Laws

 All vehicles should be insured and registered with the traffic department. 

Only Left Hand Drive vehicles are permitted on UAE roads. 

Roads in the UAE are monitored by speed radors. Drivers should follow the individual road speed limits to avoid speeding fines.

All accidents, thefts & damages should be reported to the police and a police report should be obtained. No insurance claim can be filed without the police report.

Tailgating & hard shoulder driving is prohibited in the UAE and may result in a traffic fine. 

Red signal jumping will result in heavy fines including imprisonment of driver and impounding of vehicle.

Buckle-up: Use of seat belts is mandatory for driver's & passenger in the front seat. It is recommended that all passengers should wear seat belts their own safety.

Use of cell phones without hands-free while driving is a serious offence and may lead to fines and impounding of the vehicle.

Driving under the influence of alcohol or any other banned substance is strictly prohibited in the UAE. Non-compliance may result in heavy fines, vehicle impounding, imprisonment and deportation.
